We are the business partner for foreign entities, making it easier for you to import the best apples to your market.

Strict commercial quality standards for apples in the European Union

Our apples conform to the strict production and transport standards applicable in the European Union. This means that the apples we supply to clients all over the world are always fresh, delicious and healthy.

In accordance with the Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products with respect to the fruit and vegetables sector, and processed fruit and vegetables, apples are subject to specific marketing standards. The standards define the quality requirements for preparing and packing fruit. In our case, the fruit applies to apples supplied to the consumers fresh.

Requirements for apples

The apples intended to be traded should meet the following quality requirements, subject to the acceptable tolerance ranges:

  • Whole – the fruit must not have any mechanical damage or damage arising during harvest.
  • Healthy – fruit that is rotten or with signs of spoiling which make them unfit for human consumption, are unacceptable.
  • Clean – the fruit must be free of any visible foreign substances.
  • Free of pests.
  • Free of pulp damage caused by pests.
  • Free of any foreign smells or flavours.
  • The produce must be in condition making it possible to be transported, reloaded and delivered to their destination in satisfactory condition.

European Green Deal

Apple production is one of the main categories of the fruit and vegetable sector in the European Union, with the output approaching 13 million tons, accounting for 16% of global production (as of 2020). The European food and agriculture system is already setting the bar for food safety, security of supply, nutritional values and quality standards. The Fruit Union supports the implementation of the European Green Deal – the European sustainable growth strategy which includes, among others, the issues of growing fruit and will have a positive impact on the health of individuals, societies and our planet as a whole.

The goal of the European Green Deal strategy is to produce high-quality, safe food for European consumers. The strategy includes reasonable management of natural resources and socially responsible agriculture. With the European Green Deal, our business partners will have access to the best apples in the world!

Our clients can enjoy fresh and healthy apples from the heart of Europe. Consumers in numerous countries already know the flavour of Polish fruit, widely recognised to be one of the best in the world.

European apples are exported to Asia by sea. Apples are transported in refrigerated containers with humidity and temperature control. Each container can store around 21 tons of fruit. In order to ensure that the fruit reaches its destination fresh and undamaged, it is packed in bushels which provide optimal conditions during transport. Maintaining the so-called cold chain keeps the fruit fresh from the start to the end of the journey, so that your clients can enjoy juicy and fragrant apples straight from Europe, as fresh as if they have been just picked.
